Fostering

What is fostering?
Fostering is where you temporarily home and care for cats from Happy Paws. This can be a great experience for those who aren't sure if they are ready to commit long-term to owning a cat or if they just want to contribute to helping the rescue industry.

Fosterers are vital members of our team as they help reduce the amount of cats the rescue's base has. Having active fosterers can allow a rescue to have space to take on more cases of abandoned/surrendered cats and kittens.

Fostering isn't a paid position. However, Happy Paws covers the costs of food, toys, cat furniture, preventative care, and veterinary care for all fostered cats.

Please note: We ask all fosters to complete a home check to ensure the home is suitable to house cats safely and comfortably. This can either be done via video or in person.

  • Video submissions are deleted once the application has been completed and will only be seen by the rescue manager.

"When I first started fostering with Happy Paws, I honestly didn’t know just how much it would mean to me.

There have been some amazing moments, but also some really hard ones. Fostering isn’t always easy, especially when you become attached to the cats and kittens in your care. But every time you see them start to trust you, become more confident and eventually find a loving home, it makes everything worth it.

Vicki has been absolutely amazing throughout it all. She’s always been there when I’ve needed advice, had a question, or just needed some reassurance. I genuinely don’t think I could have got through some of the harder moments without her support.

Happy Paws has given me the chance to help cats who desperately need someone, and I’m so grateful for that. Some of these little faces will stay with me forever, even after they’ve gone to their new homes.

I’m so glad I took that first step into fostering. It’s changed me in ways I never expected, and I absolutely wouldn’t change it for the world."
